Top composers, Kubilay Uner, Tony Scott-Green, Carlos Villalobos, Thomas Miller and Jacob Smith, speak about the intricate, multi-faceted art of composing TV, Film, & Video Games scoring.

Moderated by Elliot Callighan

About our panelists:

Munich-born composer Kubilay Uner has bounced around the planet and through every musical genre, which explains a thing or two about his individual approach to music.

With numerous feature film scores and TV pilots to his credit, as well as a number of concert music works performed, Kubi is as comfortable in the concert hall as he is on the dubbing stage. "Whether the music is part of a film or stands on its own, my goal is to deliver an intense experience, one that completely immerses and transforms the listener. I believe a good piece of music should take you on a journey. That's what I want to achieve."

In addition to writing for concert, theater and film, Kubi has acted as a record producer and arranger for a range of artists, from soul legend Bobby Womack to Mexican-American chanteuse Perla Batalla. Active in the Los Angeles contemporary music scene, he produces a series of composer salons, with presenters ranging from songwriting legend Randy Newman to Pulitzer-prize winning composer Steven Stucky and electronic music pioneer Mort Subotnick. These stylistically diverse salons are yet another expression of Kubi's conviction that "good music can only happen when you mix things up."

Tony Scott-Green is an award-winning composer of original music for film, TV and commercial projects and has crafted music for feature films, TV shows, documentaries, web series, marketing & advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies.

"I make music that breaks down the barriers between audiences and the visions of creative, passionate people. The right music helps an audience see better."

He has been composing and playing music for over 20 years. Originally from Scotland, he now composes and records in Chicago-based Greenhouse Sound Studios, splitting time between Chicago, Los Angeles and New York as projects dictate.

A sample of recent projects includes:

• ‘The Life and Death of an Unhappily Married Man’ – Feature, 2015. Composed original score. Won ‘Best Original Score’ at Brasov International Film Market and Eyecatcher Film Festival
• ‘Wild Blue’ – Feature, 2014. Composed original score
• ‘Fear No Art’ - TV (PBS). Composed incidental music
• ‘Greetings! From Prison’ – Web Series, Composed theme music
• Second City Theater, Chicago. Composed all music for live comedy show

CARLOS VILLALOBOS (aka CJ Villa) - has become quite a multi-faceted musician writing and producing music for rock and pop to scoring films and commercials to recording his own material on his own record label, Alistar Records. He is a multi-talented musician, artist, producer, songwriter and mixer who also sings, plays guitars, keyboards, drums, and bass on all of his music from his private recording studio.

He has also written & performed music underscores for several tv shows and movies.
