Joe Bogdan runs the legal and consulting firm, Silvershift. Acting as outside General Counsel and/or Chief Operations Officer for many of his clients, Joe’s primary areas of expertise include:
- Entertainment and Media: live events, music, motion picture/television, publishing, consumer products, and video games.
- Intellectual Property: copyright, trademark, trade secret and name and likeness protection and licensing.
- Corporate: formation, ongoing maintenance, funding, and purchases/sales of businesses. Commercial transactions, partnership/shareholder agreements, employment contracts, and leases.
- Litigation: civil litigation in state and federal courts, for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Before launching Silvershift® Joe spent 10 years as an in-house legal, business affairs and operations executive, five of those years at World Wrestling Entertainment, managing talent, live events and intellectual property issues.
Prior to his 10 years in industry, Mr. Bogdan was in private practice with large law firms, splitting his time between litigation and transactions, mostly at Manatt Phelps in Los Angeles. During that time, Joe performed cutting edge legal work for high profile clients and became a frequent and sought-after speaker.
Currently, Joe is also an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Live and Performing Arts Management major at Columbia College Chicago. At Columbia College, Joe teaches “Club Management,” “Entertainment Law,” “Entrepreneurship,” “Events Management,” “Managing and Licensing Intellectual Property Portfolios,” and “The Business of Live and Performing Arts.”
